It was his third day in town, the previous two allowed for today's wine-head, he sat alone at a dark table, journal open before him nursing the gentle ache behind his eyes as he prepared to write out his latest findings his luminous green eyes slid over that first entry from two decades before.
Between the wine and the memories he slid gracefully into reverie as the memories became new.

~In Common~
This is a record of my flight, and the start of my quest for vengeance. I was born in the small kingdom of Run'que'enral, Scion of house Qu'Srinshee and second cousin to Queen Anariima. It was a time when I was called Sidhion, and served my Queen faithfully as Seneschal while being trained in the ways of an Eldricht Knight.
The winter of my 86th year everything changed.
Through the miasma I could scent cooked flesh on the wind. The battle was close, but as night had fallen cries from the deep Forrest were becoming feint. The insurgents were cleaning up after themselves...
Glancing back at the war room my queen was prowling like a caged animal. Her council stood over a map marking losses and gains, nothing felt right. Her gaze lifted and meshed with mine, it was in that moment that I knew she could sense the same aura falling over the realm that I could. At my nod she slowed her prowl and came to join me at the window.
"We have fallen, they still look for a way to win.. But Run'que'enral is lost Sidhion."
Casting my eyes back out at the night I held my silence, though it wasn’t easy. My home had been raised only the day before, some of the miasma was likely the scent of my family and servants.
"Cousin, your family has long stood watch at the seat of our power. The Pt'enwryll forces cannot truly win if you fill the role held by your line from the beginning. As long as it survives they will not kill me or the council.. Many other noble families will be spared. And because of raising your home they would not even look for you.. All it would take is a secret.. Shared by two.."
Meeting my Queen's eyes, a glowing verdant green so like my own and I understood, and she must have read my expression. As I pitched my voice to the same level as hers. "House Qu'Srinshee will serve Your Majesty."
